Fourteen three-year-olds have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s 2016 Rosehill Guineas (2000m); offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Tarzino savaged the line for second in the Australian Guineas last start and remains clear $2.50 in Rosehill Guineas betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Jameka ($6.50) and Le Romain ($7).
Will Tarzino justify favouritism and win the 2016 Rosehill Guineas or will one of his many talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Group 1 winner Tarzino will relish a step-up to 2000m for the 2016 Rosehill Guineas and will likely receive the run of the race from the ideal barrier 2. Making a credible transition to black type company in spring when seventh in the featured Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m), Tarzino savaged the line for third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) before delivering a smart field a resounding defeat in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) on October 31st. Running on for fourth in his only other start prior to the Australian Guineas (1600m) this time, Tarzino will be particularly hard to beat with only 56.5kgs in tow.
Jameka is a proven performer over the course, distance and at the class and will carry only 54.5kgs in the 2016 Rosehill Guineas as the field’s only filly. Resuming in spring for third in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m), the daughter of Myboycharlie progressed to second in each of the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) and Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m). Returning to winning form in the Moonee Valley Vase, Jameka ended her campaign with a commanding performance to win the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m). Having placed fourth in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) and fifth in the Australian Guineas this season, Jameka appears primed for another strong performance in the Rosehill Guineas.
Montaigne has been a consistent performer in major three-year-old races this time and appears as though he will enjoy the 2000m of the Rosehill Guineas. Debuting for second in a Warwick Farm minor over 1100m on January 2nd, Montaigne produced two impressive performances to win his next two starts, including the Colin Tidy Tribute BM78 (1600m) on February 6th. Hitting the line hard for third in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m), the Road To Rock gelding placed fifth in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) a fortnight ago.
