Just seven runners have been confirmed to contest Saturday’s Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m); offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Having returned to racing in exceptional form this year, Hallowed Crown ($2.70) has opened as and maintained status as outright favourite in 2015 Rosehill Guineas betting markets ahead of Sweynesse ($2.80), Mongolian Khan ($5.50) and Volkstok’N’Barrell ($6) with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
Will Hallowed Crown break-through for a third Group 1 victory in the 2015 Rosehill Guineas, or will one of his many talented rivals prove they are the superior stayers?
Talented three-year-old Sweynesse has finished outside the first three only once in his eight start career so far, and appears primed for a maiden Group 1 victory in the Rosehill Guineas. Taking out each of his first four starts including two at black type level, Sweynesse performed to a high standard amongst open competition in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at the conclusion of his spring campaign, in what was arguably his most impressive racing appearance to date. Having placed second to Hallowed Crown in both the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) so-far this season, the Lonhro colt is sure to relish a step-up to 2000m and has been confirmed to be partnered by leading jockey James McDonald.
Hampton Court ($26)
A Group 1 winner over the distance, Hampton Court undoubtedly offers punters the best value for money in 2015 Rosehill Guineas betting markets at current odds and is therefore more than worth consideration for a bet this weekend. Steadily building to the task over spring, the Redoute’s Choice colt finished third in a minor over 1400m and fourth in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m) before posting consecutive wins in the Listed Dulcify Quality (1600m) and Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m). Clearly finding the distance too short when ninth in the Hobartville Stakes and sixth in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) this season, Hampton Court is more than capable of delivering on big odds in the Rosehill Guineas.
Mongolian Khan ($5.50)
Kiwi raider Mongolian Khan will contest his first event across this ditch this weekend, and while displaying exceptional form at home this year, may need one run to adjust. Posting six wins from seven competitive starts, the son of Holy Roman Emperor won the Listed Vesper Pies (21000m) on December 14th; taking out each of the Group 2 Waikato Guineas (2000m), Group 2 Avondale Guineas (2100m) and Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) most recently.
